The Puerto Rican Studies Hub launched its public programming with Los Pleneros de la Cresta, a plena ensemble and community arts organization from Ciales, Puerto Rico. Held in Memorial Union’s Great Hall, the event combined conversation, storytelling, musical performance, and collective participation, introducing the Hub through an evening grounded in Puerto Rican cultural practice.
After a conversation moderated by Joniel Pacheco Muñoz, Los Pleneros de la Cresta shared their work in community organizing and music before leading a lively jarana. More than 200 students, faculty, staff, and community members gathered for a celebration that joined public pedagogy, cultural exchange, and community building.
The event was free and open to the public; RSVP was required.
